I have now been running pretty consistently for almost a year.
(Yes, another running post. Sorry. The marathon is this coming Sunday, so I expect this will die down after that.)
Anyway... it's been a year. And in that time, I've dealt with some pretty hairy conditions.
- Almost slipping on frozen dog pee
- Weather so cold that my eyelashes froze
- Weather so cold that my water bottle nozzle AND my energy gel froze
- Weather so hot that I ran down the street saying the F word over and over
- A lightning and thunderstorm that scared my friend Katie right into my arms
This past Saturday was a real doozy, though. The wind was insanely strong, but I still decided to run down by the lake. Heading south, I realized that I couldn't stay on the main path without getting soaked by a rogue wave (Yes, that is the path that is covered by a wave).

Heading north,my legs were stung by flying sand and I couldn't stand up straight as a result of winds sweeping off the lake and right into my face. At that point, I cried uncle and headed inland to get away from the deadly gale force winds. It was still tough, but I was no longer at risk of drowning.
Running in Chicago is an adventure.
