Eight Random Things About Me
Read this on Stefania's blog, and thought it would be a fun filler post for NaBloPoMo. I'm going to try to make these all food-related.
1. The summer between my Junior and Senior years of college, I lived and worked in Cape Cod with my friend Melanie. We were waitresses at a REALLY crappy restaurant called The Frontier Prime Rib and Lobster House. There was no air conditioning, and we had to wear black polyester pants with a striped button down polyester shirt. The Frontier Prime Rib and Lobster House was known for its twin lobster specials (twin lobsters for just $9.99!). The specials were advertised on giant banners that were pulled behind planes flying over the beach. Mel and I would spend our days at the beach, and whenever we saw that damn plane fly by, we'd know that we were in for a REALLY annoying evening filled with cheap tourists who didn't know how to tip well. To make matters worse, the lobsters were that cheap because they were cull lobsters. Each had only one claw. The party line was that the claws were lost in fights or by getting caught in the net. Whenever we explained the cull lobster situation to our customers, we'd hold up one hand like a claw.
2. I think I've mentioned this before, but I'm allergic to fish. Not shellfish, just regular fish. I carry an epi-pen in my purse just in case I ever accidentally ingest some.
3. Two weird things that I wouldn't mind drinking: the juice from a can of ripe black olives, the juice from a can of Green Giant corn niblets.
4. I always find it strange that people drink tomato juice so frequently on airplanes. Why is this? It's not like it's a popular drink on the ground. That said, I find myself ordering it quite a bit when flying (and given the sodium content, it's probably the worst possible choice).
5. I hate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but my kids love them, and eat them multiple times a week.
6. I can't eat breakfast first thing in the morning. I usually don't eat anything until 2-3 hours after I'm up.
7. My two favorite cocktails are Ketel One Dirty Martinis and Captain and Cokes.
8. When I eat lunch at work, I usually do so in front of my computer while I catch up on my blog feeds and play Scrabulous on Facebook.
