Singapore or Toledo?
I took the kids to the mall tonight for dinner (I know - very gourmet of me). Our mall was purchased by Westfield, a giant mall conglomerate, a few years ago, and they have made a lot of changes. The biggest change was the addition of a fancy wing with a brand new food court. The food court is nothing great - it's a typical mall food court. However, Dylan loves Chick-Fil-A, so when we don't want a big sit down ordeal, and I have no food in the house, we will sometimes head to the mall for dinner.
Ever since the new food court opened, though, there are hawkers in front of nearly every joint! Each hawker has a plate of samples and he or she practically shoves them in your face. As we walked past the various places en route to Chick-Fil-A, we were accosted by three or four different hawkers. It is truly bizarre. The only other time I experienced something like this was when Michael and I went to Singapore in the late 90s. In Singapore, though, hawkers are an expected part of the food courts. But in Toledo? At the mall? Just leave me alone. I don't want your skanky chicken.
Does this happen at any other malls?
