House Chopped Salad

  House Chopped Salad

Yes, I was absent this weekend! Michael came to town Friday and stayed until yesterday morning. Saturday was spent going through TONS and TONS of old kids' clothing (it was all freecycled, brought to the resale shop or put up on eBay), and just hanging out as a family. Dylan was so happy.

Saturday night, Michael and I went out for drinks and dinner. We had a really nice time, but I, unfortunately, drank too much. I had two dirty martinis and then a couple of glasses of red wine. I wasn't terribly drunk, but I woke up yesterday feeling like ass. Can you believe, I actually threw up six times?!! Yuck. Needless to say, food blogging was not in the cards. Thanks all for hanging in there while I recovered!

Tonight, though, was a fun dinner. Inspired by Megan, the food blogger of the week on eGullet, we made a "leftover salad". Dylan didn't like that name, though, so we called it House Chopped Salad. It consisted of leftover steak from Saturday night's dinner, feta cheese, chopped beets, radish, chick peas, chopped romaine and homemade lemon caper dressing. I loved it. Dylan loved making it, and loved picking at it. She ate the cheese, the beets ,the radish and the chick peas. She hated the steak and lettuce. Oh well - I expect she'll eventually start eating salad regularly. I'm just going to keep exposing her to it.
